I have had several requests for a larger net frame size for Drift and other Boats, I had to beef up my glueing frame so while at it I made a new, larger net size.
This net is made of Walnut and Cherry in the hoop, 20 1/2 x 17 1/4 with 5 laminations.
Handle is about 21 inches long, made from a slab of Chestnut that was originally intended to be used on a guitar.
Overall length of this net will be in the 42 inch range.
Standard handle size for boat nets will be in the 40 inch range (custom lengths by request), the handle on this one is 21 (approx) inches as I didn’t want to be messing around with the full size handle on the first glue up. The net is actually resting on the full size handle for the next glue up.
This would be a perfect net size and handle combination for canoes, small aluminium boats or float tubes/pontoons.
